Drake’s View is a luxury villa that has the same vista named by the Caribbean Travel magazine as “the best view in the Caribbean” – a spectacular view of the British Virgin Islands and the East Shore of St. John. One to four couples or a large family will have ample room for privacy, and relaxation.

Drake’s View is a four bedroom, 4.5 bath villa with a tile patio, heated swimming pool, and hot tub. Four additional tile decks, a large tiled front porch, and a separate cottage terrace provide ample outdoor lounging areas. One of the bedrooms is in a separate cottage.

Drake’s View is centrally located on Bordeaux Mt. the highest point in St. John (almost 1300 feet) and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The roads leading to there are all paved and the villa is surrounded by lush local vegetation. It is a six minute drive to the VI National Park north shore beaches; three minutes to the Reef Bay Trail; seven minutes to Coral Bay; fifteen minutes the Cruz Bay; and is one-quarter mile from Château Bordeaux, one of the island’s great restaurants. From the front door, you can hike the Bordeaux Mountain Trail to secluded Lameshur Beach in one hour.

The traditional architecture of the house entrance with yellow stucco, red roof, and simple columns contrasts with a dramatic facade of glass along the east wall. No matter where you look in the house or cottage, you see Coral Bay, the valley of Estate Carolina, Drake’s Passage, and the British Virgin Islands. On a clear day, you can see the Baths at Virgin Gorda. Rainbows, mangrove cuckoos, kestrels and red tailed hawks are common sights.

Drake’s View has the ambiance of a home rather than a rental. The large great room is furnished with Indonesian, American antiques, and contemporary, comfortable, plantation style furniture. Local art is featured throughout the house.

The well equipped kitchen is very spacious and includes one of two dining areas.

Each bedroom has air conditioning, a private bath and Swedish TempurPedic mattresses. All bedrooms have king sized beds.

All the bathrooms are the same with tiled showers and plenty of cabinet space.

Guests are met at St. John ferry by the agent. Complimentary beverages, cheese, and crackers on arrival. Easy access via a paved drive and roadway. Chef services are available on the island. Weekly cleaning is included for all stays of two weeks or greater.

A $300 damage deposit is required.

Pets are NOT allowed and there is NO Smoking at the villa.

Deposit and Cancellation Policy

A check in the amount of 50% of the total rental fee is required upon booking your reservation. The balance, is due 60 days prior to your arrival date. Effective January 1, 2016 Hotel tax is 12.5%.

Cancellation policy: Reservations canceled up to 60 days before arrival will incur a 20% handling fee. No refund for cancellations made within 60 days of your arrival unless we can rebook the space. Please call for details. Because of this strict policy, we urge you to obtain travelers cancellation insurance to prevent loss if sickness, hurricane, airline failure, or unforeseen events that change your plans.

*Special Storm Policy- August, September, October
If the eminent threat of a hurricane causes you to cancel your trip to Drake’s View, you will receive full credit towards another available off-season rental within one year. If your stay at Drake’s View is interrupted by the eminent threat of a hurricane, and you have a week or more of your stay remaining, you will receive full credit of the unused portion towards another available off-season rental within one year. If you have less than one week remaining, you will receive a full, prorated refund of the unused portion of your rental. You will not be permitted to remain in Drake’s view during eminent threat of a hurricane.

Drakes View is a privately owned home. As a guest at Drake’s View you agree that we, the owners, will not be responsible for an unlikely event such as accident, injury or the loss of money, jewelry or valuables of any kind. Drake’s View is a not intended for parties or groups larger than those renting the house. We ask that you respect our home as if it is your own. Please come and enjoy the St. John lifestyle.
